Senior Copywriter Opportunity in Insurance Industry

Senior Copywriter, Highland Capital Brokerage

Location(s): Remote (based in the U.S.)

Role Type: Full time


We currently have an opening for a Senior Copywriter at Highland Capital Brokerage. This position may be a fully remote position or work in one of our many brick-and-mortar offices throughout the country as a part of a highly collaborative team.

We are looking for a talented life insurance and annuity copywriter that is comfortable writing for a variety of formats: email marketing journeys, landing pages, blogs, whitepapers, video scripts, some advertising and print media, as well as events and corporate communications.

Our ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to succinctly and persuasively capture the pain points, needs, or desires of our target audiences and be comfortable switching from an informal to formal style of writing. We’re seeking someone who has a proven ability to distill complex products and concepts, including planning strategies that illustrate the use of life insurance and annuities for professional B2B (primary) and B2C audiences. This candidate should be able to develop engaging, valued, timely, and relevant industry content that attracts a wide range of customers–with varying aptitudes– to the brand, while instilling confidence in it.

Good communication is key as this position regularly engages with all departments and roles. This marketing professional is an integral player on a high functioning marketing team. They should proactively reach out to collaborate with key project stakeholders such as subject matter experts for content and review, project managers, and in-house design to keep content moving. This role is expected to support tactical business initiatives and participate in projects that require continuous updating and improving of existing content.


  • Write original copy for internal and external industry specific communications and events, including developing story ideas for targeted audiences in the life insurance and annuity industry
  • Edit, proofread, and continually improve content, ensuring seamless company voice
  • Deliver engaging, timely, relevant content on a regular basis in a fast-pace environment by required deadlines (i.e. persuasive email campaigns, case studies, white papers, bios, social media content, and more)
  • Collaborate with content stakeholders to understand and follow strategic direction, key objectives, and themes
  • Assist with marketing editorial calendar development, ensuring content strategy matches company goals and objectives
  • Receive customer feedback and generate ideas to increase customer engagement
  • Optimize content considering email analytics, SEO, and Google Analytics and be able to adjust course when needed
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, English, or relevant financial field

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience, proven record as copywriter or content creator within the financial services industry
  • Exceptional editing, proofreading skills, and communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with marketing managers, graphic designers, sales team, and senior leadership to produce high quality content
  • Proven project management skills, excellent organization, attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities
  • Editorial mindset with an ability to anticipate the needs of different audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • Understanding of social media platforms and content best practices

Preferred Requirements:

  • Life and Health Insurance license is a plus
  • Hands on experience with SEO and web traffic metrics is a plus
  • Working understanding of marketing automation, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Teams, and Asana is a plus
