Data Analyst

October 18, 2022

Job Description

Legl is a fast-growing, vertical B2B SaaS platform with a mission to bring the legal industry into the 21st century. We closed our Series B (May 2022), and we are scaling quickly on our next phase of growth.

Our vision is to be part of a structural change in the legal industry so that firms, as well as their clients, have a better experience of accessing legal services. We launched in October 2019 and in the short time since then have built a large law firm customer base who love our product and our team.

We have an agile, ambitious and collaborative team. With deep experience across design, tech and the industry, we put our employees first. We’re looking for people who can grow with us.

Our core values are agility, ambition, and collaboration. We rely heavily on data and first principles decision-making.

The Role

As our first Data Analyst, you’ll be collaborating in a cross functional environment with our commercial, operations and product teams. Specialising in analysing and presenting a range of operational data, you’ll be a commercially savvy, data loving person, who lives and breathes ambition.

We tackle opportunities from a ‘first principles’ approach – using as much data as possible to guide our commercial operations and support our scale. As our Data Analyst, you will be integral to how we understand and act on our performance. Combining a data-driven approach and a commercial mindset, our Data Analyst will present opportunities to Legl’s leadership team.

In your first months at Legl, you will be fully immersed across our commercial operations, product and data infrastructure. With a focus on continuous improvement and opportunity spotting, you will combine your commercial acumen, with data analysis skills (incl. SQL) to create insights that support decision-making and move us forwards. We have exciting plans to unify data across our teams, and this role has the exciting responsibility in creating a clear, data-driven framework for identifying and delivering strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own company Business Intelligence (BI) and tooling – creating single sources of truth.
  • Conduct data analysis using SQL and Google Sheets to generate insights and support BAU reporting frameworks.
  • Support teams in accessing data on a self-service basis through reporting infrastructure.
  • Work with our Product team to help us understand the impact of new product launches, the effectiveness of our GTM, and the uptake of new features.
  • Work with our Commercial team and Sales Operations to support analysis and understanding of sales performance and revenue growth.
  • Deliver engaging and concise reports to the senior leadership team using valuable insights.

  • Highly data-literate and excellent at presenting insights in consumable and impactful ways to all levels of stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL queries.
  • Familiarity working with BI tools and other data visualisation tools (we use Metabase today)
  • Able to deliver against complex, or multi-stage requirements, and take ownership for project outcomes and deliverables.
  • Enjoys a fast paced, technology driven environment.

Who Are You:

  • Naturally passionate about data, with a real pride in enabling a data-led environment.
  • Collaborative & interpersonal person who wants to deliver real impact in a high growth business.
  • Ambitious at heart, with the ability to build strong relationships across a number of teams.
  • Curious to explore, with a tenacity to change norms and stamp your knowledge onto a team.

  • Competitive salary and share options: we all share in Legl’s success
  • Legl has a dynamic, remote-first culture, with a focus on making work work for you. We give generous budgets for home set-ups, co-working space use if you need or want it and access to office spaces for collaboration in person, no matter where you live.
  • Twice-annual offsites to get to socialise with your colleagues in person.
  • Opportunity to join a well-funded, post-Series B startup in our mission to make legal services better for everyone
  • High impact work that really matters – success in this role will drive our growth and have a big impact on the business and our clients
  • A focus on wellbeing with access to support sessions with a psychotherapist and a personal wellbeing budget of £250 per year
  • A learning and development budget of £1000 per year
  • Regular company off-sites, where we all get together in-person, as well as frequent remote social events

We believe that having diverse teams in which everyone can be their authentic self is key to our success. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
