Job Overview:

The Copy Coordinator/Assistant Copy Editor balances strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with an innate sense of curiosity, problem-solving, and good judgment. The position requires sharp attention to detail and an overall understanding of brand voice and strategy. The Copy Coordinator/Assistant Copy Editor will work with cross-functional partners to assign all marketing assets across multiple teams. They will also develop and manage processes to monitor capacity and create efficiencies for the Creative team. They will proofread and edit across many marketing touchpoints, ensuring consistency and accuracy in brand voice, style, tone, and grammar. As a key player on the Copy team, the Copy Coordinator/Assistant Copy Editor will have the opportunity to write copy for select projects, update brand exclusion lists, and perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • In partnership with Directors and Managers, maintain a system to input assignments for the entire Copy team. Pull assignment and job reports for the team to provide big-picture view by week or month.
  • Help set up and maintain Copy team SharePoint documents, communicating milestones to the entire team.
  • Ensure adherence to Creative team capacity quotas and act as liaison between the Creative and Project Management teams.
  • Copy edit and proofread all vendor-provided assets along with Puerto Rico and Guam print inserts. Partner with Project Management, Production, and Merchant Account Executive teams on any feedback/changes that are needed.
  • Create quarterly exclusion templates and financing disclosures as needed. Input exclusions copy into content management system.
  • Assist Copy Editor in proofreading and editing digital and print assets as needed.

Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, advertising, or marketing (or comparable work experience)
  • 1+ year(s) of editing/proofreading experience in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Retail or online experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Office 365 with a working knowledge of the Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with database tools and content management systems
  • Ability to move fluidly between projects, thriving as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of how copy relates to design, graphics, and typography
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style is preferred, but not required
