Job Summary

The Accessibility Design Lead is a key member of the Design Operations team, providing expertise around digital accessibility standards and sharing those to inform decisions and documentation for digital designs and organizational evolution. Partnering with product designers, This role will lead accessibility design expertise across all digital product initiatives, helping to mitigate organizational risk and improve inclusivity and usability of digital experiences.

The Accessibility Design Lead will deliver guidance with appropriate context to help mentor and upskill designers in accessibility as well as fostering accessibility expertise growth in all team members. Skilled at digital accessibility and product design best practices, this role will enable positive organizational evolution. Lastly, this role will help lead documentation and maintenance of an organizational plan for continued digital accessibility progress and improvements.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

Leads design-oriented accessibility annotations for product design documentation.

Provides expertise around WCAG 2.1, AA and upcoming accessibility standards.

Consults across enterprise around accessible designs, accessibility audits, and manual accessibility testing.

Informs enterprise Accessibility Roadmap/Plan.

Participates in design-review meetings, providing accessibility guidance and context for new and existing features.

Serves as the resident Digital Accessibility expert for our Design, Product, and Engineering teams, collaborating, and mentoring to identify strategies and accessible solutions.

Researches best practices & patterns, performs competitive evaluations, and builds concrete solutions to problems.

Works with the Design System Lead to inform accessible design patterns and components.

Maintains organizational record of current state of digital accessibility per digital product.

Establishes and implements enterprise guidelines, best practices, process improvements and standards related to designing and maintaining our digital applications.

Demonstrates a test-and-learn approach related to accessible digital design, serving as an internal spokesperson and champion for inclusive experiences.

Reports to: Director, Design Operations

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Normal office environment (Hybrid or Work from home)

Direct Reports: No

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a design-related field desired

5+ years experience in digital design with significant practical experience focused on digital accessibility design.

Experience collaborating with Front-end engineers and Product managers to organize project planning and execution standards.

Experience establishing and overseeing a process with accessibility testing on mobile devices and screen readers.

Experience facilitating accessibility workshops across design, development, testing, content, and management audience.

WCAG 2.1 standards compliance experience and expertise.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in financial services, payments, B2B or B2C e-commerce.

Salary Range:
$75,000.00 – $190,500.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
